ALL TOGETHER

BAU x Razzmatazz

BAU, the University Center for Arts and Design in Barcelona, and Razzmatazz have teamed up in a collaboration to support and showcase emerging talent in fashion and creative direction. This partnership, part of the All Together Razz initiative, aims to amplify local talent and diversity. Through this collaboration, Razzmatazz seeks to support and energize the city’s cultural programming. On June 17th at Razzmatazz, ten performances were presented by pairs of students from the Master’s in Fashion Design and Technology and the Master’s in Creative Fashion Direction at BAU.

Razzmatazz’s Hall 1 was transformed into a dynamic creative stage where, starting at six in the evening, ten five-minute performances captivated the audience. Each was unique, yet all shared a central theme: a sustainable, creative, and critical perspective on the environment and society.

El bosc encarnat, de la resiliència i la cura, by Rubén Gutiérrez and Ariadna Cano Caba

A poetic evocation of nature and its resilience, born from the premise “you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone.” They presented five looks with ephemeral garments made from fragile and decadent materials sourced from a forest in El Bages. The more prone they are to breaking or disappearing, the more valuable they become, demonstrating the importance of our land.

Forms of reflection, by Lenny Bourla

A personal introspection exploring design through the lens of the Bauhaus movement, using minimalism as a vehicle to explore different contexts and incorporate bolder elements that contrast with minimalism.

Reverie: Material Re-Visions, by Eve Bouchez García and Blanca Aizpurua

They introduced characters such as elves, orcs, beings, and wizards to convey a message about the importance of ecological fashion. A collection made with biodegradable fabrics like olive pit bone, wool, and algae to show that innovation in fashion can coexist with the preservation of the planet.

Manifesto. The Anarcho Criteria, by Raffaella Renatovna and Mariana Sánchez

A declaration challenging the status quo with the question: is it possible that we live in a simulation? A series of garments filled with codes and encryptions, part of a capsule collection by the brand Manifiesto. This performance invites reflection on our environment and the similarities and differences between the tangible and virtual worlds.

Ethereal Realms; A Journey Through the Uncanny, by Gabriela M. Gallo and Mora San Martín

A journey of self-reflection and exploration of history and tradition to understand our evolution and current aspirations. They transported the audience to a mysterious world where freedom and women’s voices in contemporary society are reinterpreted. The Dinner Party collection reinvents traditional bridal attire.

Thalassa, by Paula Bonilla and Diana Cortés Silva

Paula and Diana immersed us in the vastness and mysteries of the sea, viewing the ocean as a reflection of our inner selves. Delving into the ocean and the subconscious is initially terrifying, but as you dive deeper and embrace your fears and insecurities, you find light in the darkness. This process is evoked in their collection, inspired by the textures and colors of the shore, sea foam, waves, wet sand, and algae. The pieces are made from a base of cotton mesh, polyester, and recipes of gelatin and glycerin with variations of cellulose and alum to create the effect of sea foam.
