LOEWE X LYNDA BENGLIS
WEARABLE SCULPTURES
Loewe x Lynda Benglis
Loewe continues its impressive run with the launch of their new exclusive jewellery collection, which had glimpses shown during their Spring/Summer 2024 show but now fully takes center stage in an aesthetic manner, as is typical of the brand. Artist Lynda Benglis brings her expertise and creative vision to craft timeless artisanal pieces.
In Loewe’s Spring/Summer show, alongside the memorable looks and innovative ideas presented by Jonathan Anderson on the runway, attention was equally captured by the fascinating pieces that adorned the models’ path. A series of copper sculptures shone brightly in the predominantly white venue. These sculptures, along with some accessories worn by the models, were created in collaboration with American sculptor and visual artist Lynda Benglis, marking the beginning of their creative journey together.
The collection comprises twenty unique pieces designed as wearable sculptures, echoing Anderson’s creations that often resemble art pieces rather than traditional garments. Benglis’s artistic approach, which emphasizes exploring materials and their properties, defines her collaboration with Loewe. She experimented with foil, mesh, clay, wire, and polyurethane in her Santa Fe, New Mexico studio, ultimately translating these materials into the finished pieces.
With a distinctive blend of form, shapes, and colors, the collection stands out with its liquid and light appearance, exuding artistic charisma and a liberating aura, befitting bodies in constant motion. The contrast between vibrant colors and the timeless elegance of 18ct gold, various crystal shades, and the round, bubbly yet twisted shapes manifest in rings, earrings, cuffs, pendants, and brooches. These elements represent a successful addition to the Loewe universe, where craftsmanship is paramount.
