Pull&Bear x Primavera Sound: Not Just a DJ with Keyrah, Santana, & Leo Mandella
Pull&Bear x Primavera Sound
On the festival’s second day, we’re thrilled to recount the highlights from yesterday at Pull&Bear’s Dream Valley. The area buzzes with the ongoing Not Just a DJ project, which invites creatives from various disciplines to try DJing. Yesterday’s lineup featured Keyrah, Santana, and Leo Mandella.
Keyrah
Keyrah’s eclectic curations enable her to seamlessly navigate through diverse club settings and radio shows worldwide. Currently, she spins a mix of electronica, house, R&B, rap, soul, indie, and jazz, showcased in her monthly residency with Rinse FM and her Soulection set.
What does music mean to you, especially as a DJ?
I’ve been DJing for 7 years, and music has always been central to my life. Pursuing a career in the industry felt like a natural progression.
As part of the Not Just a DJ crew from Pull&Bear, what do you bring to the project?
Everyone on the lineup has a unique style and sound. I hope to add something fresh and distinctive.
A song that can never be missing from your sessions.
It varies with the set, but probably “You Rock My World” by Michael Jackson.
Santana
Santana is a resident of MUSA, a queer-focused platform in Barcelona, where they cultivate a unique musical style described as bouncy, sexy, and playful, spanning genres like hard-groove, hard-house, progressive, and trance.
You recently started as a DJ. What led you to it? Has music always been important to you?
Yes! I began in late November 2023, around six months ago, thanks to my friend and fellow DJ Drazzit, who taught me the ropes. I’d been collecting music for a while and decided to practice with a controller one day. From there, I started creating mixes.
Music has always been vital to me, both for listening and dancing. Now, I can develop and discover rhythms and sounds that resonate with me.
What inspired your session yesterday?
I aimed for fresh and summery sounds, without straying from strong bass and engaging vocals, creating a vibe between nightclub and terrace.
As part of the Not Just a DJ crew from Pull&Bear, what do you bring to the project?
My unique style, combined with my musical preferences and club rhythms, ensures a good time and dancing.
A song that is always present in your sets.
I like to vary my tracks, but “Double Take” by Mabel is a staple.
Leo Mandella
Entering the fashion scene in 2014, Leo Mandella, a streetwear aficionado, has amassed over 700k Instagram followers thanks to his distinctive style. A lifelong music lover, he has now embarked on a DJ career. His sets blend Afro beats and Techno, creating a journey for his audience.
What does music mean to you? You have your own radio show, right? What kind of music do you play there?
Music is both a tool and a privilege. It’s a means to create and enjoy life, with something for every moment—sad, happy, or confused. My show is a Friday morning breakfast show featuring upbeat afrobeats, afro edits, funky house, and amapiano.
You began playing music as a hobby. Where do you stand now?
I’ve always been passionate about music. DJing started as a hobby, but I envisioned it becoming something more. This year, I feel it’s heading in the right direction as I take on larger and more exciting bookings. I’m enjoying the journey and embracing every opportunity.
As part of the Not Just a DJ crew from Pull&Bear, what do you bring to the project?
Not Just a DJ captures my essence. I never confine myself to one category and believe in exceeding expectations. Creativity allows me to explore various avenues, and I thrive on finding new opportunities to excel.
A song that is always present in your sets.
“In the Morning (Let Your Love Come In)” by Egypt, a funky classic, is always essential in my sessions.
