Returning decades after their last presentation, Dior showcases this collection at the Gothic Drummond Castle Gardens in Perthshire, making a grand reentry into the country.
Dior’s historical connection to Scotland dates back to 1947 when Christian Dior named a haute couture piece Écosse. This bond was highlighted in 1955 with a grand presentation at the Gleneagles Hotel. Fast forward to 2025, and Maria Grazia Chiuri reveals the Cruise collection in the mystical gardens of Drummond Castle, weaving French and Italian Renaissance influences with the iconic Scottish scenery.
This collection signifies a new chapter in Dior’s relationship with Scotland. It draws inspiration from the country’s heritage and medieval iconography, presenting a mix of classic and contemporary designs. The show, attended by stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Rosamund Pike, Alexa Chung, Lily Collins, Emma Raducanu, and Maisie Williams, reinforced Dior’s enduring connection to Scotland.
Chiuri’s designs, inspired by Scotland’s heritage, feature duality: classic silhouettes transformed into modern gowns, skirts, and voluminous creations. Scottish symbols like the unicorn and thistle are reimagined in Millefleurs motifs and heraldic embroidery, celebrating exceptional craftsmanship. Garments are adorned with maps of Scotland, and traditional tartan is reinterpreted in vibrant colors and cuts.
Photographs from the 1955 Dior presentation in Scotland become prints and appliques, adding historical depth.
